FAQ
We probably never ask as many questions as we do when we’re first-time parents. As parents, we want the best for our children and it’s only natural to worry. Here we answer some of the questions new parents frequently ask us about our products.
Frequently asked questions about baby carriers
Q: Is the carrier really designed to suit a baby’s back?
A: Our baby carriers are developed in collaboration with doctors who specialise in paediatric orthopaedics. Our baby carriers provide well-adapted support for a baby’s hips, neck and back. A baby’s back is C-shaped at first and gradually acquires the S-shape of the adult spine. There is a popular misconception that a young baby’s back is held in too upright a position in a baby carrier. But this is completely unfounded from a medical standpoint. On the contrary, our baby carriers provide good back support when the fabric encircles the baby’s body. Babies also spend many hours asleep lying flat on their backs in their cot. Lying flat on their back does no harm at all to a baby’s back. It is just as safe for a baby’s back to be carried in a baby carrier.
Q: Can my baby get over-stimulated when I carry them in the front-facing position?
A: You carry your baby close to your body in a baby carrier. This gives your baby a great sense of security. We recommend that babies are carried in the facing-in position for the first five months. By the age of five months, a baby is usually growing more interested in their surroundings and you can try the front-facing position to see if your baby likes it.
We collaborate with some of the world’s leading paediatricians and psychologists, and they say there is no need for parents to worry about their baby getting over-stimulated. The best thing you can do as a parent is to listen to your baby’s signals. If your baby seems to prefer the facing-in position, that’s fine. If you have an inquisitive baby, there’s no reason not to let them sit in the front-facing position when they are old enough. Let your baby decide!
Q: Does a baby sit comfortably in a baby carrier?
A: Our baby carriers are designed to encircle the baby, so weight can be distributed across the baby’s entire body. This is important because babies have very different proportions to adults. Your baby’s head, for instance, accounts for up to one third of their total body weight and the baby carrier’s adjustable head support helps to support your baby’s neck muscles. Our tests show that most of the pressure under the baby’s bottom in the baby carrier is placed on the sitting bones, which is exactly what we want for optimal sitting comfort for the baby. As there is least pressure around the genitals, there is no risk that they will be harmed in any way. A nappy makes it even softer.
Q: Can baby carriers cause hip problems in young babies?
A: No, all newborn babies are examined at birth to check that their hips are normally developed. If they are not, they will receive medical treatment. It is not possible for a baby carrier to cause hip dysplasia.
Almost everyone who works here at BabyBjörn is a parent too and we work closely with doctors who specialise in paediatric orthopaedics when we develop our baby carriers. We also have midwives, safety experts from testing institutes and other specialists to advise us. Without their approval, we would never let parents use our baby carriers. 30 million children all over the world have been carried in our baby carriers so far, without a single baby coming to any harm.
Q: Why is the baby’s position in the baby carrier so important?
A: The skeletal tissue surrounding a newborn baby’s hips is still soft. This makes it important for a baby to sit in a natural, wide-leg position during their first months. Our baby carriers give your baby the correct support for their hips, thighs, neck and back, while still allowing them to move freely. We recommend that you carry your baby facing inwards during the first five months while they are still small and need proper support for their neck muscles.
Q: Why is using a baby carrier such a good idea?
A: A baby carrier has many practical benefits. But the absolutely most important reason to carry your baby close to you is the great need babies have to stay in physical contact and enjoy closeness with their parents. The closeness you both experience when you carry your tiny baby strengthens the all-important bond between you. A baby carrier gives you the opportunity to stay in close physical contact as much and as frequently as possible – even when you need your hands free for everyday tasks.
General questions about our baby carriers?
Q: Does a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier suit parents of any particular size?
A: Our baby carriers are designed to be flexible enough to fit parents of all shapes and sizes, from size S to XL. We recommend that you visit a retailer in order to test the baby carrier and to determine which model fits you best.
Q: Is the baby's position with respect to hips, legs and back anatomically correct in BabyBjörn Baby Carriers?
A: Yes, the baby’s hips, legs and spine are in the same position as when you hold your baby in your arms. According to paediatricians, an upright position that ensures free air passages, free movement for the legs and arms, and good support for the neck and head is the optimal position for a newborn. Our baby carriers meet all of these important orthopaedic requirements for small children.
Q: My baby has colic. Can I carry him or her in BabyBjörn Baby Carriers?
A: Yes. If your baby has temporary stomach problems, it can help to carry your baby in a baby carrier where the baby is in an upright position. It can also be calming for your baby to be carried and to feel the security of being close to mum or dad.
Q: What are the washing instructions for BabyBjörn Baby Carriers?
A: You can machine wash all our baby carriers at 40°C. Wash the baby carrier separately, preferably in a washing bag, and use a mild, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry. Our mesh fabric products dry very quickly thanks to their lightweight and airy fabric. If you have a baby carrier in mesh fabric, do not iron it!
Q: Are the fabrics used in the baby carrier safe? Is it safe, for example, for my child to suck on the baby carrier?
A: Yes. All fabrics in our baby carriers are tested and certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 – the class for babies, which also has the most stringent requirements. The Oeko-Tex label means that the fabrics are free from substances hazardous to health and allergens.
Many babies suck and drool on the baby carrier when they are being carried facing outwards. To avoid having to wash the baby carrier too often, you can use the Bib for Baby Carrier Mini or Bib for Baby Carrier One. They are, of course, also certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1.:
Q: For how long can I carry my child in the baby carrier at a time?
A: You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as he or she is content. However, small children should not remain still in the same position for long periods of time. We therefore recommend that you always pay attention to your baby’s signals and vary between using the baby carrier and, for example, a bouncer, pram and crib/cradle.
Q: When can I start carrying my baby facing inwards in my baby carrier?
A: Following advice from paediatricians, with whom we collaborate, we recommend that your baby be carried facing inwards in the baby carrier until around five months of age. Before this age, baby’s neck muscles, spine and hips are not sufficiently developed.
Q: When can you start using BabyBjörn Baby Carriers?
A: Baby Carrier One/One Air and Baby Carrier We/We Air can be used from newborn (at least 3.5 kg and 53 cm) up to about 3 years (max. 15 kg and 100 cm).
You can start using Baby Carrier Mini and Original from birth (at least 3.5 kg and 53 cm) to 11 kg.
You can start using Baby Carrier Miracle from birth (at least 3.5 kg and 53 cm) to around 15 months (max. 12 kg).
Baby carriers in mesh fabric
Q: What is special about baby carriers in mesh fabric?
A: What makes these baby carriers different is the fabric and its special characteristics. Baby Carrier We Air/One Air are made of an airy mesh fabric that allows heat and moisture to pass through. The soft mesh fabric has a number of popular characteristics: it is cooling, quick-drying, durable and colour-fast, and has a stability that gives the essential support to your baby’s hips, back, neck and head.
Q: Why should I choose Baby Carrier We Air/One Air in mesh fabric?
A: Babies lack the ability to regulate their body temperature completely, which means they easily get hot. If you are living or spending a lot of time in a hot climate, we recommend a mesh fabric as it allows heat and moisture to pass through. Mesh fabric works equally well indoors to keep a baby’s body temperature well regulated. A baby carrier in a soft, child-friendly mesh fabric that breathes makes it easier to maintain the correct temperature and at the same time lets you enjoy the all-important closeness to each other.
Q: Will Baby Carrier We Air/One Air give my baby the same support as baby carriers in other materials?
A: Yes, your baby gets the same essential support for hips, back, neck and head in all our baby carriers. The mesh fabric is soft and airy, yet extremely durable and has the necessary stability.
Q: Will I notice any difference when I wear Baby Carrier We Air/One Air?
A: Yes, Baby Carrier We Air/One Air is a cooler version for your baby and for you. These baby carriers also dry quickly after you wash them. You experience exactly the same carrying comfort.
Q: How do I wash my baby carrier in mesh fabric?
A: You can machine wash all our baby carriers at 40°C. Wash the baby carrier separately, preferably in a washing bag, and use a mild, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry. Our mesh fabric products dry very quickly thanks to their airy fabric. If you have a Baby Carrier Air/One in mesh fabric, do not iron it!

Q: How does the Bouncer Balance Soft work for my child?
A: Your child’s smallest movements are turned into soft, soothing rocking in the bouncer. Babies practice their coordination and have fun at the same time. When your child is big enough and can walk unaided, turn the fabric around and use the bouncer as a high chair. The bouncer can be used for babies until they weigh 28 lbs/13 kg. Batteries are not required for our bouncers.
Q: For how long can my child sit in the bouncer at a time?
A: You can let your child sit in the bouncer for as long as he or she is content. However, small children should not sit or lay still in the same position for long periods of time. Therefore, we recommend that you pay attention to your child’s needs and switch between using the bouncer and, for example, a baby carrier, your arms, a pram or a crib. You should always use the baby side with the safety harness fastened for small children who cannot sit unaided.
Q: The bouncer has three positions, which one fits my child?
A: The lowest position is used for newborns. The baby lies comfortably with optimum support for the body and can, at the same time, have eye contact with the parents. Use the baby side and always fasten the safety harness. The maximum weight is 7 kg.
You can begin to use the middle position once your child can easily hold his/her back and head upright in this position. The baby side should be used here, with the safety harness fastened. The maximum weight is 9 kg.
You can begin to use the highest position once your child can easily hold his/her back and head upright in this position. Until your child can sit unaided, use the baby side and always fasten the safety harness. The maximum weight is 9 kg.
When your child can walk and sit unaided, you no longer need to strap them in. Instead, turn the fabric around and use the chair side. For the chair side, we recommend the following:
Lowest position up to 7 kg.
Medium position up to 10 kg.
Highest position up to 13 kg.
Transport mode – when the bouncer is not being used, it can be folded up into a compact transport mode and it is then easy to pack up or put away.
Q: How do I change the position of my Bouncer Balance Soft?
A: Lift the positioner and move it into the desired position, at the same time as you lift the backrest with your other hand. To fold up the Bouncer Balance Soft into transport mode, the positioner must be set to position A or B. Pull back the red safety latch and set the positioner to transport mode, D.
Q: From what material is the fabric seat of my Bouncer Balance Soft made?
A: The Bouncer Balance Soft is available in three fabric collections:
Cotton: cotton Mesh: polyester
Organic: organically grown cotton
All fabrics used in this product are gentle against your child’s skin and safe to chew or suck on. They have been tested and approved in accordance with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I for baby products. This means that the textiles are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens. That’s important to us!
Q: How do I wash the fabric in Bouncer Balance Soft?
A: The fabric is easy to remove and should be washed separately in warm water (40˚C). Please use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry and never iron the fabric, because this will cause the stuffing to be flattened.
Q: What makes the Bouncer Balance Soft ergonomic?
A: The bouncer has a soft shape that adapts to your child’s body. Your child’s weight is distributed evenly across the fabric seat, which provides good support for his/her head and back. All of this gives an ergonomic reclining and sitting position for your child.
Q: What distinguishes the Bouncer Balance Soft from the previous model, BabyBjörn Bouncer Balance?
A: The baby side is sewn as a cosy “nest” for your little baby. The safety harness is padded and folded over to be extra soft, since many babies like holding its edges. The safety harness is now fastened so it won’t come off and it has two different sets of buttons so that you can adjust the size to fit your child. The frame has also been given a more-rounded shape.
The new model has two sides – a baby side and a chair side. The baby side is used by newborns until they can sit unaided. Once your child can walk and sit unaided, turn the fabric around and use the chair side.
Q: What distinguishes the Bouncer Balance Soft from the previous model, BabyBjörn Bouncer Balance?
A: No, they don’t fit very well. The fabric seat for the past Bouncer Balance model does not fit the Bouncer Balance Soft optimally. The fabric seat for the older Bouncer 1-2-3 cannot be put on the frame of the Bouncer Balance Soft.
Bouncer Bliss
Q: Does the fabric seat from other BabyBjörn bouncer models fit bouncer bliss too?
A: Yes, the fabric seat for Bouncer Balance Soft also fits Bouncer Bliss and vice versa. But the fabric seat for the older models, Bouncer Balance and 1-2-3, does not fit Bouncer Bliss.
Q: What distinguishes bouncer bliss from the previous models, babybjörn bouncer balance/balance soft?
A: Bouncer Bliss suits modern homes, with its stylish design and soft contours. Its metal frame has a matching soft hue. One difference is that Bouncer Bliss is available in a cuddly quilted cotton fabric. It’s also available in a soft and airy mesh fabric, with seams placed to avoid chafing a child’s delicate skin.
Apart from this, all these bouncers from BabyBjörn have the same basic design, with natural bouncing, three different positions and a form-fitting ergonomic fabric seat. They all fold flat, have removable, machine washable fabric seats and a long period of use from 0 to 2 years.
Q: What makes bouncer bliss ergonomic?
A: Bouncer Bliss has a form-fitting fabric seat that gently moulds itself to the child’s body. The child’s weight is evenly distributed over the fabric seat, which results in good support for their head and back. All this gives your child an ergonomic reclining and sitting position.
Q: How do i wash the fabric in bouncer bliss?
A: The fabric is easy to remove and machine wash separately at 40°C. We recommend using a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry and never iron the fabric as there is a risk this may compress the filling.
Q: From what material is the fabric seat of my bouncer bliss made?
A: Bouncer Bliss is available in two fabric collections.
Quilted cotton: 100% cotton.
Soft and airy mesh fabric: 100% polyester.
The padding is 100% polyester.
All fabrics in this product are kind to the child’s skin and completely safe to taste or suck on. They are approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, Class 1 for baby products, which guarantees that they are free from harmful and allergenic substances. This is really important to us!
Q: How do I change the position of my bouncer bliss?
A: Lift the positioner and move it into the desired position, at the same time as you lift the backrest with your other hand. To fold Bouncer Bliss flat for travel or storage, the positioner must be set to position A or B. Pull back the red safety latch and set the positioner to the transport mode, D.
Q: Bouncer bliss has three positions, which one suits my child?
A: The lowest position is used when your baby is newborn. The baby reclines comfortably with optimum support for their body and at the same time can have eye contact with their parents. Use the baby side of the fabric seat and always keep the safety harness fastened. Maximum weight is 7 kg.
You can begin to use the middle position when your child can hold their back and head upright easily in this position and you still use the baby side of the fabric seat with the safety harness fastened. Maximum weight 9 kg.
You can begin to use the highest position when your child can hold their back and head upright easily in this position and until your child can sit unaided. Use the baby side of the fabric seat and always fasten the safety harness. Maximum weight 9 kg.
When your child can walk and sit down unaided, you no longer need to use the safety harness. You can reverse the fabric and use the chair side. In this case, we recommend the following:
Lowest position up to 7 kg.
Medium position up to 10 kg.
Highest position up to 13 kg.
There may be an interim period when neither the baby side nor the chair side suits your child. This is when your child can sit unaided and is no longer using the baby side, but still isn’t walking and not quite ready to use the chair side.
Transport mode – when the bouncer is not being used. Bouncer Bliss can be folded into compact transport mode, which makes it easy to pack or store.
Q: For how long can my child sit in bouncer bliss at a time?
A: You can let your child sit in Bouncer Bliss for as long as they are content. However, small children should not sit or lie still in the same position for extended periods. Therefore, we recommend that you pay close attention to your child’s needs and switch between the bouncer and e.g. a baby carrier, your arms, tummy time, pram or cot. For a little baby who is not able to sit unaided, you should always use the baby side of the fabric seat with the safety harness fastened.
Q: How does bouncer bliss work for my child?
A: Your child’s smallest movements are turned into soft, soothing rocking in the bouncer. Babies practice their coordination and have fun at the same time. When your baby is very young, you can rock the bouncer with your hand. When your child is big enough and able to walk, you can reverse the fabric and your child can use Bouncer Bliss as a children’s chair. The bouncer can be used until your child weighs 13 kg. Our bouncers don’t need batteries or power cords, and make no annoying noises.
Q: When do i use the baby side and when do i use the chair side on my bouncer bliss
A: The bouncer has two sides:
The baby side can be used from the time your baby is newborn until they can sit up unaided. The baby side is designed for young babies and has a safety harness that should always be fastened. The safety harness has two different fastenings to allow you to adjust the size to fit your child.
When your child can walk and sit unaided, turn the fabric around and use the chair side. Your child can then use Bouncer Bliss as a chair. Your child will no longer need to use the safety harness, which is not possible anyway when the chair side is used.
Q: When can i begin using bouncer bliss for my baby?
A: You can use Bouncer Bliss for your newborn baby (3.5 kg) and until your child weighs 13 kg (approx. 2 years of age). You should use the baby side until your child can sit upright unaided and always with the safety harness fastened. Once your child is able to walk or sit down unaided, use the chair side as a comfy seat for your child.
Travel Cot Light
Q: Do I have to fasten the mattress to the red hooks?
A: We recommend that you use the hooks for the best possible safety.
Q: From what age can my child use the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light?
A: The BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light has been designed for use from birth up to about three years. There is no weight limit, given that the mattress is directly on the floor. How long you can use the travel crib varies from child to child.
Some children can use the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light even after turning three. Others are more likely to escape and can't use it as long. When your child tries to climb out of the travel crib, it is time to stop using it, so pay attention to whether he or she begins trying to get out of it.
Q: How do I fold up the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light?
A: First detach the mattress from the hooks. Fold up the mattress and put it in the storage bag. Fold one leg at a time and be careful to pull out the leg before you fold it in. Fold up the crib in the middle and put the crib in the bag.
Q: How do I set up the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light?
A: You can quickly set up the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light with one simple step. Take the travel crib out of the storage bag. Hold on to the short sides so that the legs point down toward the floor and open it up in one movement. The legs fold out by themselves, but make sure that all four are in the right position.
Please note: Put the mattress in the travel crib and fasten it to the bottom by pulling the red loops through the holes in each corner and fasten them to the red hooks.
Q: How do I wash the Travel Crib Light?
A: You can easily take off the mattress cover by opening the zipper on one of the short sides. Machine wash the mattress cover separately in hot water. Use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.
It is also easy to remove the fabric from the travel crib by opening the four zippers around the frame. Machine wash the fabric separately in warm water. Use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry any of the parts.
The mattress itself is too large to be machine-washed. You can wash it gently by hand and rinse it off as needed.
Q: Is the material in the travel crib safe for my baby?
A: Yes. All fabrics close to your child are gentle against your child’s skin and safe to chew or suck on. They have been tested and approved in accordance with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I for baby products. This means that the textiles are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens.
Q: Is there a maximum weight for the Travel Cot Light?
A: We have not listed a recommended maximum weight for the BabyBjörn Travel Cot Light. The fact of the matter is that the unique design even makes it possible for you to get into the travel cot yourself when laying down or picking up your child.
The length of time that you can use the BabyBjörn Travel Cot Light is very individual and varies from child to child. The age limit has nothing to do with weight. It is more about how likely children are to “escape” or try to climb in and out of the travel cot. We recommend that you stop using the BabyBjörn Travel Cot Light when your child begins trying to climb out of it.
Q: What are the measurements of the BabyTravel Crib Light and how much does it weigh?
A: The BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light weighs just 13 lbs/6 kg, which makes it easy to bring along both on shorter and longer trips.
Its measurements are as follows:Mattress: 24x41x1.5 in/60x105x3 cm (EU version)
The frame's measurements are/floor space needed is: 32x44x in/82x112 cm
Folded: 24x19x6 in/60x49x14 cm
Unfolded height: 25 in/64 cm
Q: What is the difference between the past versions of the Travel Cot Light and the new one with mesh fabric?
A: The cot itself is basically the same – it is still a travel cot that is easy to take with you and easy to set up and fold away. However, the material is new; the travel cot now has mesh fabric all the way down to the floor around the sides. The reason is to make it easier for you to keep an eye on your child in the travel cot. Since the product standard has changed, we have also added a new fastening device to the mattress.
Fitted Sheet For Travel Cot Light
Q: Can I use other sheets in the BabyBjörn Travel Cot Light?
A: You can, of course, use other sheets, but the BabyBjörn Fitted Sheet for Travel Crib Light is specially designed to fit the travel cot. It is fitted to the dimensions of the mattress and this ensures that the sheet lies flat and does not slide around. The elastic edges also make it easier when making the bed. The sheet has been certified according to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, Class 1, meaning that it is guaranteed to be free from health-hazardous substances. The hypoallergenic fabric is safe for your child’s sensitive skin.
Q: From what material is the fitted sheet made?
A: All fabrics used in this product are gentle against your child’s skin and safe to chew or suck on. A: The fitted sheet can be easily removed and washed in the machine (hot, 60°C).
Cradle
Q: Why should I choose BabyBjörn Cradle instead of a traditional cradle?
A: When you choose BabyBjörn Cradle you get a cradle with a unique rocking action that cannot get stuck in any position. It is lightweight and easy to move around from room to room. Your baby can breathe through the airy mesh fabric and it is easy for you to keep an eye on your baby, even when you are lying in bed. Assembly is very easy and the covering can be washed.
Q: When can I begin using the cradle for my baby?
A: The cradle can be used by a newborn baby until he or she can sit unaided (approx. 6 months) or weighs 8 kg.
Q: I have seen another BabyBjörn crib. How does it differ from the BabyBjörn Cradle?"
A: BabyBjörn used to sell an earlier version of the BabyBjörn Cradle called Bassinet. BabyBjörn Cradle is a modified version with a number of improvements, which we also sell at a lower price than its predecessor. The basic design is unchanged.
Q: How do I assemble the cradle?
A: The BabyBjörn Cradle is easy to assemble, use the two screws and the Allen key that are included and follow the instructions in the Owner’s Manual. Assembly only takes a few minutes. The Allen key is a standard type.
Q: How do I use the BabyBjörn Canopy for Cradle?
A: The canopy is an accessory for BabyBjörn Cradle which is sold separately. It provides a cozy shelter for your baby. The canopy can also be used as a mosquito and insect net, since you can wrap it all the way around the cradle.
It is easy to attach the canopy to the cradle by clipping it to the edge – no tools are needed.
Q: How do I wash the canopy?
A: The canopy fabric is machine washable in warm water (40°C). Please use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.
Please note: Remove the fabric from the frame before you wash the canopy.
Q: How do I wash the cradle?
A: The cradle’s outer fabric is easy to remove by opening three zips. Machine-wash the fabric separately in warm water (40° C). The mattress is machine washable in hot water (60° C). You can either remove the mattress fabric or leave it on during washing. Please use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry. The cradle framework and other details can be wiped using a cloth and gentle, all-purpose cleaner.
Q: In what way is the BabyBjörn Cradle safe?
A: The cradle has been developed in consultation with experts, including American physician and child safety expert Mark Brandenburg. Doctor Brandenburg is convinced that the BabyBjörn Cradle does not have any of the risks commonly associated with cradles. In his book “Child Safe” he writes:
“Injury occurs when a baby rolls so far to one side that the cradle fails to rock back in the other direction. If the cradle becomes angled to a degree that prevents an infant from moving off the railings, pressure against her chest can become great enough to prevent breathing.”
Doctor Brandenburg contends that cradles can get stuck at an angle that can be dangerous for the baby. But he confirms that there is no risk of this happening with the BabyBjörn Cradle, because it stands firmly on the floor and does not rock in the traditional way and so cannot get stuck in one position.
In addition, all sides of the cradle are made of a mesh fabric that your baby can breathe through, even if your baby’s face is very close to the side of the cradle.
Q: What are the cradle's measurements?
A: The cradle weighs only 13 lbs/6 kg.
Height/length/width in transport mode: 5x31x23 in/13x79x58 cm
Height/length/width unfolded/standing: 26x31x23 in/65x79x58 cm
Mattress measurements: 14x28 in/36x72 cm
Q: What is special about the rocking action of the BabyBjörn Cradle?
A: The movement is similar to that of a stroller with spring suspension. The cradle is easy to rock in all directions. You can rock the cradle with gentle hand or foot movements.
The cradle is set in motion by your baby’s movements and a baby who wakes up may be lulled back to sleep. Some sleep experts claim that children do not sleep as deeply when they are in motion. But the cradle stops rocking once your baby falls asleep, so he or she does not get accustomed to constant movement while asleep.
Q: What kind of mattress does the cradle have?
A: The mattress in BabyBjörn Cradle complies with existing mattress standards and has been developed in consultation with pediatricians. A thin mattress is safer than a thicker one. Please note: Only use the mattress that comes with this product. There is also a sheet made out of organic cotton tailored to fit the mattress which can be bought as an accessory: the BabyBjörn Fitted Sheet for Cradle.
Q: What material is the cradle made out of?
A: Mattress cover: 100% cotton Mattress filling: 100% polyether Fabric around cradle: 100% polyester Legs: Wood (beech) and steel, feet are made out of TPE plastic Canopy: 100% polyester
All fabrics used in this product are gentle against your child’s skin and safe to chew or suck on. They have been tested and approved in accordance with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I for baby products. This means that the textiles are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens. That’s important to us!
Q: Why is the BabyBjörn Cradle so small?
A: The compact size of our cradle makes it easy to move, as well as snug and cozy for your baby, just like being in Mommy’s tummy.
Babies old enough to sit unaided should not be using a cradle – they can start to climb and at worst fall out of the cradle. That is why we have made our cradle small – your baby should grow out of it when it is time to move on to a larger bed.
Q: Why is the cradle made out of mesh fabric?
A: Mesh fabric has two major advantages. The first is that your baby can breathe through it if your baby's face is very close to it. The second is that you can see through the fabric, which makes it easy to keep an eye on your sleeping baby.
Baby Crib
Q: Are the materials in the baby crib safe for my baby?
A: Yes. All materials in this product meet the requirements for OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Class 1 for baby products. This means they are kind to your child’s skin and safe to taste.
Q: Are there any weight limits or recommendations for the baby crib?
A: Our tests show that the baby crib can be used for up to 55 lbs/25 kg. Our baby crib has been designed for children up to the age of 2. We recommend that you use the baby crib in the highest position for newborns and until your child shows signs of wanting to sit up (approximately at five months). Q: Can I attach the canopy to the baby crib?
A: No. The attachment only works on our cradle, not on our baby crib.

A: You will need a zipper tool if you want to wash the mattress cover. This tool is stored in a small pocket on the underside of the crib. The mattress cover can be machine-washed on hot (60˚C) and dried in the dryer.
You will also need to unlock the zipper with the zipper tool if you want to wash the crib fabric. The crib fabric can be machine-washed on warm (40˚C). It should not be dried in the dryer, but it still dries quickly since it is mesh.
The mattress foam should be washed by hand.

Q: How do I adjust Baby Carrier Move to fit my growing baby?
A: Baby Carrier Move is easy to adjust as your baby grows. You’ll find adjustment instructions and an adjustment buckle on the inside of the baby carrier’s front section. Adjust the buckle according to the length of your baby. The length setting is approximate. Hold the buckle flat. If your baby’s arms are pressing against the lower edge of the armholes, you will need to adjust the length setting.
Q: How do I adjust Baby Carrier Move?
A: For the best comfort for both baby and babywearer:1. Start by adjusting the baby carrier according to your baby’s size (length). It’s securely locked when you hear a separate click from the left and right side of the double buckle.3. Remember that you can choose how high up you carry your baby depending on how high up you place the waist belt. Younger babies are often carried higher up than older babies, but pay attention to your baby’s needs and what you yourself find most comfortable.
Q: How do I change to a wide-leg position in BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Move?
A: Gently lift your baby’s legs, set the seat adjustment buckle, and spread out the fabric so it supports your baby’s thighs and bottom. Q: Can I wash Baby Carrier Harmony?
A: You can wash Baby Carrier Harmony in your washing machine at 40°C, neither hotter nor colder. We recommend washing your baby carrier separately and using a laundry bag to protect it. The baby carrier is ergonomically designed to be as comfortable as possible for both you and your baby.
Q: How do I adjust baby carrier harmony to fit my growing baby?
A: As your baby grows, you can easily adjust the height, leg position and seat area. The pressure-relieving waist belt sits at waist height when you carry your little newborn baby, and as your baby grows larger, you move the belt down to your hips. Before your baby can hold their head up unaided, good head support is essential to help hold their head in an upright position. Baby Carrier Harmony has a head support with three different positions, which you easily adjust using the poppers. Use the position that provides good head and neck support, and gives you good supervision of your baby.
Q: How do I carry my baby higher up in Baby Carrier Harmony?
A: If you want to carry your baby higher up, lift them from underneath while you move the waist belt higher up. Then tighten the shoulder straps again. When your baby is very young, we recommend that they sit so high up on your chest that you can kiss their forehead.
Q: How do I carry my child on my back in Baby Carrier Harmony?
A: Firstly, put on the baby carrier as usual. Your child should be facing you and sitting in the wide-leg position. Slightly loosen both shoulder straps. Slide one of your arms up under the shoulder strap and your other arm down under the lower part of the shoulder strap. Now the shoulder strap should be a closed loop around your body. Supporting your child's body from underneath, slide them under your raised arm and onto your back. Avoid holding the safety buckles. Put the shoulder straps back in place and move the back yoke into a comfortable position. Finally, tighten the waist belt and the shoulder straps.
Q: How do I use the head support on Baby Carrier Harmony?
A: Before your baby can hold their head up unaided, good head support is essential to help keep their head in an upright position. The International Hip Dysplasia Institute has evaluated Baby Carrier Harmony and classifies it as “hip-healthy” when used as directed. This means that the baby carrier provides the right support to your baby’s hips. When you buy a baby carrier from BabyBjörn, you can rest assured that you are making a good choice. BabyBjörn collaborates with medical experts and paediatricians, and always bases product development on the latest research. Throughout the entire process – from concept to finished product – we focus on safety and good ergonomics for both you and your child.
Q: What makes Baby Carrier Harmony different from Baby Carrier One/One Air?
A: Baby Carrier Harmony is designed with a layer of stretchy meshfabric, while Baby Carrier One has a slightly sturdier construction with padding. The head supports are slightly different: although they are both adjustable, the head support on Baby Carrier Harmony offers three different positions. In addition, the back support on Baby Carrier Harmony is horizontally adjustable.
Q: When can I use Baby Carrier Harmony?
A: You can use Baby Carrier Harmony from newborn (as long as your baby weighs at least 3.2 kg) and up to the age of about 3 years or max. 15 kg. You don’t need an infant insert in the early days, and as your baby grows, you can easily adjust the settings of the baby carrier to suit you and your baby.
Q: When should I use the leg straps?
A: When your baby weighs between 3.2 and 4.5 kg, you should use the leg straps on Baby Carrier Harmony. The leg straps reduce the size of the leg openings, and are there to ensure that your child sits comfortably and securely. Always make sure that the leg straps are not too tight around your baby’s legs.
Q: Which different babywearing positions does Baby Carrier Harmony offer?
A: Baby Carrier Harmony has two different height positions, which means that you can babywear from newborn and up to the age of three years. With just a few simple adjustments, you can vary your babywearing position from facing in to facing out on your front, and carrying on your back.
Your newborn baby needs a lot of closeness. At this age, it’s best to babywear in the facing-in position to strengthen the bond between you; the warmth of your breath and the sound of your heartbeat are reassuring to your baby. At about the age of five months, when your baby’s neck muscles are stronger, you can start carrying in the facing-out position – curious babies usually enjoy seeing what’s happening around them. When your baby is one year old, you can start carrying them on your back, which often feels more comfortable as your child grows heavier.
Baby Carrier Mini
Q: Can I wash my Baby Carrier Mini?
A: Yes, Baby Carrier Mini – like all our baby carriers – is machine washable. Machine wash warm (40°C). Wash separately, preferably in a laundry bag. Q: How do I adjust the head support on Baby Carrier Mini?
A: All Babybjörn Baby Carriers have a head support that should be used until your baby's neck muscles are strong enough to hold up the head unaided. Adjust the head support by tightening or loosening the short straps beside your baby’s head. Check that there is enough head space to keep your baby’s air passages free.
Q: What are 3D fabrics?
A: Our 3D Mesh and 3D Jersey are 3D fabrics – also known as spacer fabrics. This means that they consist of three layers – an inner layer, a middle layer and an outer layer. Instead of padding, the middle layer consists of a fine, single-fiber thread that makes the layer airy so the fabric “breathes”. The 3D fabrics that we use to make our baby carriers give them stability while also ensuring good airflow and heat- and moisture-wicking properties.
Q: What is BCI-certified cotton?
A: The cotton that we use in our baby carriers carries the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) logo. This means that the cotton has been produced in a more sustainable way that is better for the environment it grows in and for the people who produce it. This includes using less water and fewer chemicals than the methods for conventionally grown cotton. You can read more about BCI here.
Q: What should I keep in mind when I adjust Baby Carrier Mini?
A: There are a few basic rules to ensure the best comfort for both the baby and the babywearer.
Start by adjusting the baby carrier according to your baby's height. Check the size instructions on the inside of the baby carrier and adapt it using the fully adjustable double buckle.
Put on the harness and attach it to the front section of the baby carrier by locking the double buckle. You will know it is securely locked when you hear a click from both the left and right side of the double buckle.
Remember that you can adjust how high on your chest you are carrying your baby by moving the double buckle. Carry your baby high enough to be able to kiss the top of their head.
Adjust the baby carrier’s shoulder straps to fit your body. The cross in the back should be in line with the lower part of your shoulder blades for maximum carrying comfort.
Q: What’s the difference between Baby Carrier Mini and Baby Carrier Original?
A: The difference between Baby Carrier Mini and Baby Carrier Original is that Baby Carrier Mini is made of new materials that are super-soft and gently hug your baby’s body. The seat area of Baby Carrier Mini is wider and gives better support to your newborn’s legs and hips when you’re babywearing in the facing-in position.
Q: When can I start using Baby Carrier Mini?
A: You can use the baby carrier for your newborn from day one, provided your baby weighs at least 7 lbs/3.2 kg. Always use the leg straps when your baby weighs between 7 lbs/3.2 kg and 10 lbs/4.5 kg.
Q: When should I use the leg straps?
A: The leg straps are intended to reduce the size of the leg openings for smaller babies. The leg straps should be used when your baby weighs between 7 lbs/3.2 kg and 10 lbs/4.5 kg. The leg straps may also need adjusted depending on the amount of clothing your baby is wearing. Always make sure that the leg straps are not too tight around your baby's legs.
Q: Which accessories are available for Baby Carrier Mini?
A: There are two practical accessories for Baby Carrier Mini: the Babybjörn Bib for Baby Carrier Mini, which protects your baby carrier from dribble, and the Babybjörn Cover for Baby Carrier, which keeps your baby warm when it’s cold outside.
Q: Which material is used to make Baby Carrier Mini?
A: Baby Carrier Mini is available in three materials: Cotton, 3D Mesh and our new 3D Jersey.
Our baby carrier in BCI-certified, satin-woven cotton is cooler, lighter and slightly stretchier than earlier versions of our cotton baby carriers. Our mesh and jersey materials are incredibly soft, ensure a good airflow, and stay cool and comfy when you’re babywearing.
The fabrics in Baby Carrier Mini have been developed specifically for Babybjörn and are designed to suit newborn babies.
All fabrics are approved for baby products in accordance with OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Class I. This guarantees that they are free from harmful and allergenic substances. That’s important to us!
Baby Carrier One
Q: How do I adjust Baby Carrier One to fit a newborn or a larger baby?
A: Use the upper height position for newborns. Use the lower height position for babies at least 24.5~26.5 in/62~68 cm. We recommend switching to the lower height position once your baby’s shoulders reach the head support buckle. Always check that the entire zipper is closed.
Q: How do I adjust the seat width of Baby Carrier One?
A: The seat width is fully adjustable with the help of two zippers on the outside of the baby carrier. Open the zippers enough to allow your child’s lower legs to move freely. The zippers can be locked in any position.
In the facing-in position, open the zippers enough to allow your child’s lower legs to move freely while keeping the knees in a high position. The zippers can be locked in any position.
In the facing-out position, the zippers should be completely open. When carrying your child on your back, the zippers should always be completely closed.
Q: How do I carry my baby higher up in Baby Carrier One?
A: If you want to carry your baby higher up, lift your baby from underneath while you move the waist belt up. Tighten the shoulder straps again. When your baby is very young, we recommend that you wear the baby carrier so high on your chest that you can kiss your baby’s forehead.
Q: How do I carry my child on my back in Baby Carrier One?
A: First, put on the baby carrier in the front as usual. Your child should be facing you and sitting in the wide leg position. Loosen both shoulder straps.
Slide one of your arms up under the shoulder strap and your other arm down under the lower part of the shoulder strap. The shoulder strap should now form a closed loop around your body.
Support your child’s weight from underneath as you swivel your child around, under your raised arm, and on to your back.
Put the shoulder strap back in place and move the back yoke into a comfortable position.
Finally, tighten the waist belt and the shoulder straps.
Q: How do I put on Baby Carrier One?
A: The baby carrier is always delivered in the upper height position for newborns. If your baby is 24.5~26.5 in/62~68 cm long, you should switch to the lower height level.
Put the baby carrier on over your head like a sweater.
Position the back yoke below your shoulder blades and then buckle the waist belt at the back.
Loosen the shoulder straps, and unfasten the head support on both sides and the safety lock on one side.
Place your baby in the baby carrier. Once your baby is in place and you have locked the safety lock and buttoned the head support and (if needed) the leg straps, you can adjust the shoulder straps and waist belt so the baby carrier feels comfortable for both you and your baby.
Q: How do I use the head support on Baby Carrier One?
A: Adjust the head support by squeezing the sides of the buckle. This releases the buckle, allowing you to pull it up or down, like a zipper, into the desired position. Then tighten the strap as needed.
To fold down the head support, start by gripping the buckle for the head support adjustment and pulling it down as far as possible (if the strap is too tight, you may need to loosen it). Fold the head support outwards. Tighten the strap to keep the head support folded down.
Q: How do I use the leg straps on Baby Carrier One?
A: Use the leg straps to reduce the size of the leg openings when your baby weighs 8-10 lbs/3.5-4.5 kg. Fasten the loops onto the large buttons at the front of the baby carrier.
Q: How long can I use Baby Carrier One?
A: You can use Baby Carrier One for newborns (min. 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) and up to approx. the age of 3 (max. 33 lbs/15 kg or 39 in/100 cm).
Q: What is the difference between Baby Carrier One and other BabyBjörn Baby Carriers?
A: BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One has four carrying positions in total. You can choose to carry your baby first in the facing-in position and later in the facing-out position. You can also choose to carry your child on your back at the age of 12 months. You can use Baby Carrier One once your child weighs 8 lbs/3.5 kg and up to 33 lbs/15 kg.
Q: What is the difference between Baby Carrier We and Baby Carrier One?
A: BabyBjörn Baby Carrier We is easy to use. It only has a few buckles and adjustments, and you always carry your child in the facing-in position. Baby Carrier One is multifunctional and offers a variety of different carrying options. You can carry your child in either the facing-in or facing-out position.
Q: What makes the new Baby Carrier One different from previous versions?
A: The fabric is more flexible and lets you both see and feel that you’re carrying your newborn in a natural position with their back in a C curve.
You can now select an even wider maximum seat area for your baby than you could in previous versions. The fully adjustable seat area means that you can adapt the seat width perfectly for your baby.
The head support is higher, so it gives a newborn more protection and neck support and provides better support. You can adjust the firmness of the support it provides.
A new design that feels more like a big soft hug for you and your baby. The baby carrier is now more flexible, so babywearing brings you and your baby even closer.
Q: When can I start carrying my child on my back in Baby Carrier One?
A: Once your baby is 12 months old, he or she is big enough to be carried on your back in Baby Carrier One.

The plastic is food grade and meets plastic safety requirements in both Europe (EEC) and the U.S. (FDA). The product is PVC-free and does not contain bisphenol A, phthalates, cadmium, lead or bromine. The plastic is also recyclable.

Q: Is the cup food grade?
A: Yes.
Q: When can my child start using the BabyBjörn Baby Cup?
A: Your child can start using the cup from around 8 months as his/her first cup (child development is however individual and the age can therefore vary a bit). The cup's grip-friendly shape and surface make it easy for small hands to lift and hold, while a big foot with a rubber ring on the base makes the cup stable and hard to knock over.
TIP: An adult can feed baby from the cup/hold the cup in the beginning and when the baby begins to get interested and has the motor skills to hold the cup, it becomes natural for the baby to do it himself/herself. Baby will love experimenting in the beginning and by filling small amounts at a time, spills will be a natural part of learning.
Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork?
Q: Can I sterilise or boil BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork?
A: We do not recommend sterilizing or boiling your Plate, Spoon or Fork. The maximum temperature they can withstand is 194°F, and if you overheat the material you risk damaging or deforming the products. We recommend that you wash your BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork before you use them with a mild dish soap or in the dishwasher.
Q: Can I wash BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork in the dishwasher?
A: Yes, it is fine to wash the plate, spoon and fork in the dishwasher. But you should avoid placing them near the dishwasher’s heating element.
Q: My BabyBjörn Baby Plate is marked #7 on the underside, what does this mean?
A: The number on the underside of the plate tells you which plastics have been used to make it. Plastics are divided into seven different classes (for recycling), with Classes 1-6 standing for certain specific plastics. Class 7, however, refers to “other plastics”, meaning that this product is made from plastics other than those specified in Classes 1 to 6.
Our products belong to Class 7. They are always BPA-free and contain only food-safe and permitted plastics.
Q: What can I do to make my BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork last longer?
A: Our best tip for making your BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork last longer is to use them together. The spoon and fork are specifically designed to be used with the plate and are perfect for a young child to use. Do not use with metal silverware since this could scratch the bottom of the plate.
Wash BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork with a mild dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge. Do not boil or sterilize. We recommend a maximum temperature of 194°C.
Bon appétit!
Q: What makes BabyBjörn Baby Plate, Spoon and Fork easier to eat with than other plates and silverware?
A: The plate’s three-leafed clover shape makes it easier for babies to scoop up the food instead of chasing it around on the plate. The rubber ring on the base of the plate makes it steadier on the table. The rounding of the edges makes it difficult for small hands to grip the plate and toss it aside.
The short handles of the spoon and the fork are easy for small hands to grip and fit just as well in both the right hand and the left hand. The bowl of the spoon is shaped like the plate and makes it easier for babies to scoop up the food onto the spoon.
Q: Which plastics are used in BabyBjörn Baby Plate?
A: The edges of the spoon, fork and plate are made from Polypropylene (PP), and the rubber ring on the base of the plate is made from Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE). The inside of the plate is made from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS).
All BabyBjörn kitchen products are made from food-safe plastics and meet the applicable plastic safety requirements in both Europe and the USA. They are PVC-free and contain no Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, cadmium, lead or bromide. The plastic is also recyclable.
